Seeing this title you’d be wondering is there a way to monetize my travel experience? I tell you the truth, yes it is, that’s just what I do for small steady income. How to? I’ll explain in details.
Travel is an attitude of life. Travel is part of our life. You’ve probably been to many really interesting places, but after some time, you couldn’t even recall the best part of some of your past exciting journeys. And your families and friends, even other travel zealots on the internet. What a pity. One thing that is more pitiful is, you also lost some chances of getting residual profit from recording and sharing your travel experience. I’ll tell you what I do.
Every time I go for a vacation, I’ll take three things with me, cellphone, camera and laptop. I use them to record my own journey for sharing on the internet.
Every morning I wake up, I’ll use my cellphone as a voice recorder, recording my mood, the weather, what’s for breakfast there, anything special at my staying place, how I plan to the next resort. Next, I’ll start my pace to my daily-planned destination.
One thing that is very important is, I use a SLR (single lens reflex) digital camera instead of any small and cheap DC. Why? I know it’s a little bit inconvenient to take a SLR camera on my neck, but it’s just worthwhile. It could get me High Quality pictures of the scenery and people, anything interesting or beautiful to me. You don’t need any crap pictures to show your friends and later delete them from your computer, right? High quality pictures make a great collection of permanent memories of all your travel experience.
I’ll take photos of everything I’m interested in. My SLR’s resolution is 18 mega, which is good enough. I’ll tell you what I’ll do with them to make money.
Your SLR camera should be able to take video shots. Once I see something fascinating and that is not what the static photo can fully express, I’ll choose to use a video shot.
In the evening I go back to my hotel, I’ll open up my computer, use my voice record, photos to write a travel blog and publish it via my WIFI. And I’ll use PS to lower the size of the photos. Hey! I have my own WP blog with Google AdSense, I could monetize all my articles of the unique and fresh travel logs with photos. The game is not over yet, let’s continue.
What are the videos for? I upload them on YouTube and monetize the videos also with AdSense. Videos can be more attractive and lively. You as a visitor, would surely be very interested in experiencing other people’s whole travel experience with words, photos and videos. That’s cool!
Last, I’ll upload my high resolution photos, of sceneries and people, to some high quality photo premium download site. As a PS zealot, I used to spend 3 to 5 dollars to download one high quality photo. Now, I can provide some original shots and monetize them as long as somebody wants to download my photos.
